The Violet-green Swallow is a small North American swallow. Their breeding habitat is semi-open areas in western North America from Alaska to Mexico. They nest in cavities in a tree or rock crevice, sometimes forming small colonies. Clutch size is 4 to 5, length of incubation is 13 to 14 days and days to fledge are 16 to 24 days. They eat insects including mosquitoes, butterflies, mayflies and moths. The Violet-green Swallows migrate in flocks to Central and northern South America.
