The Common Snipe is a small stocky shorebird. Their breeding habitats are marshes, bogs, tundra and wet meadows. These birds forage in soft mud, probing or picking up food by sight. They mainly eat insects and earthworms, also plant material. On the average, 4 eggs are laid. Length of incubation is 18 to 20 days, days to fledge 19 to 20.
